Lavender Oil

(Latin Names: Lavendula officinalis or Lavendula augustifolia)

The word 'Lavender' originates from the Roman word 'lavare' meaning to 'wash' and as a much favoured aromatic herb used in bathing. It spread throughout Europe by the Romans and Lavender twigs were burned to ward off plagues in the past.

Its powerful healing effects were discovered by Rene-Maurice Gattefosse after burning his hand in a laboratory accident.
